We Help Girls In Need

From absent parents to severe financial hardship, all living in extreme poverty without food, water, safety, education, often on less than $1/day.

Orphans

Girls without either parent present in their lives, forced to subsist below the poverty line without money for food, shelter, security.

Half Orphans

Girls who have lost their fathers to death or abandonment, leaving only their mothers to raise them in severe poverty, unable to provide food and shelter, forcing them to leave their daughters at the orphanage for care.

Destitutes

Girls that may have parents or relatives, but no financial support to afford daily meals or basics due to extreme poverty. Though their family is alive, they lack any resources to care for the girls, leaving them in extreme destitution.

Please note: NYSS, NALAM's local Indian partner, defines orphans to include full orphans, half-orphans, and destitutes – all living in severe poverty. If a parent remains, it's often a mother, often handicapped or unable to support her daughter. Hence, they turn to the orphanage for help.
